  • Engine: Cutting-edge 2-stroke technology combined with a precise 6-speed gear box and hydraulic clutch are the foundation of the 85 SX's superiority in all amateur racing series.
  • Crankshaft: Thanks to its perfectly sized lightweight con rod, the crankshaft is distinguished by minimum vibrations an maximum durability.
  • Cylinder: The high-performance cylinder with flow-optimized ports and a high-precision exhaust control valve provides the engine with its unrivaled performance.
  • Airbox: What is good for the bigger KTM offroad bikes, cannot be bad for the 85 SX: air filter change within seconds without tools.
  • Cooling: A constant temperature balance for consistent, high-performance is ensured by an intelligent cooling circuit with integrated crankcase cooling and two radiators.
  • Clutch: New in 2014, the hydraulic clutch mechanism by Formula ensures an easy clutch action and well-defined modulation.
  • Chassis: The proven 43mm upside down fork with 270mm of suspension travel and the rear PDS monoshock ensure optimum traction and suspension comfort on the KTM 85 SX. Rebound and compression damping can be adapted individually to track and rider.
  • Suspension Travel and Damping: Up front, there's a 43mm upside down fork with 270mm of travel, while a revised PDS monoshock on the rear now provides even better traction and optimum surface contact. Both are made by renowned supplier WP Suspension. Of course, rebound and compression damping can be adjusted separately for a quick and precise set-up to match the track and rider.
  • Brakes: The Formula brake system with radial brake calipers - four pistons in front, two in the rear - with lightweight Wave brake discs - front 220mm, rear 210mm - are the reference in terms of controlled action and braking performance. In 2014, a revised front master cylinder with improved piston system is used, which provides even better durability.
  • Wheels: The wheels use lightweight, CNC-machined hubs, high-end Excel rims and black coated spokes with lightweight aluminum nipples to ensure the highest stability at minimum weight. The OEM Pirelli tires are distinguished by perfect traction and outstanding performance.
  • Handlebar: The 85 SX is has a super-strong, tapered Renthal handlebar made of high-quality aluminum alloy whose bend is perfect for motocross requirements.
  • Graphics: The revised, cool graphic design provides a striking new look.
  • Bodywork: Ergonomics and function of the bodywork is designed in such a way as to achieve complete harmony between rider and bike.
  • Frame: Made of top-quality chromoly steel with a lightweight, bolt-on aluminum rear subframe, the frame ensures maximum stability at minimum weight. It has a rugged polymer coating in a classy charcoal grey metallic.
